Slumdog Millionaire ... winner of 8 Oscars

Slumdog Millionaire is about a movie of love , sacrifice and triumph over hardships and most important of all, DESTINY. Directed by Danny Boyle, the story was adapted from a novel entitled, Q & A written by Vikas Swarup. Nominated for 10 Oscars, the movies has movie 8 of them, beating the likes of The Curios Case of Benjamin Button and The Dark Knight. They are Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay (Adaptation) and other 2 awards ,Best Original Score (Music) and Best Original Score (Song) to A R Rahman (The Mozart of Chennai) for his works on this movie. The song which landed him the Oscar was "Jai Ho" (Hail). This achievement has made both the Indians and Asians proud. As of 25 February 2009, the film has grossed $175,115,223 worldwide. Back after a long break....

Hello again folks ! Arvind the blogger is back for more blogging action after a long hiatus ! I've just changed the blog's template to Transformers 2 : The Revenge of the Fallen. This movie is the sequel to the movie Transformers (2oo7). Budgeted at US$ 2oo million, this movie will be shot mostly in U.S and also many other places including Egypt. This movie is due to be released worldwide on June 24th 2009. The trailer is already out , so u can check it out for yourself.

Sakkarakatti movie review

Movie :Sakkarakatti (A type of Indian sweets)
Director: Kalaprabhu (Son of Kalapuli S. Dhanu)

I just watched the afternoon show of this movie and I arrived in the cinema 10 mins late. huhu ! was kinda shocked , only 6 persons was in the hall including me . Anyway, the story was nothing much to be marvel about. Frankly, it is a typical youth love story which also highlights friendship.

Plus :-

Music by A.R Rahman a.k.a musical genius (simply love the songs!!!)

The hero and the second heroine are good looking

Minus:-

The main heroine is not so good-looking

Bad storyline (very draggy)

The timeline of the story too short (1hr 45 mins)

New Primary School Curriculum by 2010

New primary school curriculum

PUTRAJAYA: A new curriculum will be introduced at the primary school level in 2010 to make it more holistic and less examination-oriented.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said this would replace the existing primary school integrated curriculum (KBSR), which was first introduced in 1983 and subsequently reviewed in 2000.

“The new curriculum will be based on six key areas to produce holistic individuals,” he told reporters after releasing the third report card based on the National Education Blueprint 2006-2010.

These six areas, he added, were communication, spiritual attitude and values, humanitarianism, science and technology literacy, physical and aesthetics, and personal development.

Hishammuddin said the implications of the new curriculum would include changes in the time table, syllabus and curriculum, while teachers will be trained to become more multi-specialised.

The emphasis in Years One and Two, he added, would be on ensuring pupils mastered reading, writing, arithmetic and reasoning skills, scientific and ICT knowledge, and nurturing creativity.

In Years Four, Five and Six, he said the emphasis would be on acquiring more complex skills and knowledge.

Hishammuddin said the ministry was also transforming the national assessment system, moving from a centralised examination to a school-based assessment.

Suggestions, he added, which were being studied include creating a database of students’ development, reducing the number of examination papers and subjects, and assessing based on semesters.

He said the main of the transformation was to make learning fun and to move away from an examination-oriented environment.

The ministry, he added, was also transforming technical and vocational education to make it more relevant and attractive to students

Well what i can say it is for the good of the Malaysian education system , so we the students and teachers should be prepared for this change.
