Vellai Pookal....

I just heard a beautiful song sung and composed by A.R.Rahman....beautiful not only on the music but also the lyrics....Listening this song in a quiet environment and also during a rainy day will make u feel like flying...I have also included the lyrics with English translation so that everyone can treasure the beauty of the lyrics....enjoy.... :-)

P/s The song is more like a prayer for world peace....

Pallavi
--------
Vellai pookkal ulagam engum malargavey!
(Let white flowers bloom all around earth,)
Vidiyum bhoomi amaithikkaga vidigavey!
(Wakening world arise for peace,)
Manmael manjal velichcham vizhugavey!
(Amber light suffuse the morning dust, )
Malarey soambal muriththu ezhugavey!
(And flowers stretch from the arms of slumber. )
Kuzhandhai vizhikkattumae, thaayin kadhakadhappil
( Let the child wake up from the mother's morning cuddle,)
Ulagam vidiyattumey, Pillayin siru mudhal sirippil...
(And let the whole world awaken to the child's first sleepy smile of the morning.)

Charanam-1
-----------
Kaatrin paerisayum,
Mazhai paadum paadalgalum,
(The great music of winds, and songs that rain sings,)
Oru mounam, poal inbam, tharumo?
(Can it bring forth happiness as does a moment of silence? )

Kodi keerthanamum
Kavi koartha vaarthaigalum,
(Billions of melodies and sweet words of the poet, )
Thuli kanneer, poal artham, tharumo?
(Can it convey the meaning as a drop of tear does?)
(Repeat Pallavi)

Charanam - 2
-------------
Engu siru kuzhandhai,
Than kaigal neettidumo,
Angu thoandraayo, Kollai, nilavey!
(Where a small child holds out her hand - Ask a thousand moons to appear!)

Engu manidha inam,
Poar oindhu saaindhidumo,
Angu koovaayo, vellai, kuyile!
(Where a war-worn humanity tired rests - Ask the white Indian cuckoo to sing! )

(Repeat Pallavi)
